I guess you could say I went from "hot stove baseball talk" to... well, the hot stove! After ten years of working in Chicago sports radio - a stint that included time as a reporter, anchor, and talk show host - I decided to switch directions and began pursuing a culinary career. I'd loved baking my entire life, so becoming a pastry chef seemed like a perfect choice, and before long, I'd graduated from Chicago's Kendall College with my Baking/Pastry certificate.
My culinary jobs have included stints at the Northbrook Hilton, where I did hundreds of wedding cakes, and North Shore Country Club, where I especially loved doing the dessert buffets for holiday events. To ask me to choose a favorite dessert I've made is like asking a parent to choose a favorite child, but I will admit that Im particularly fond of all my bars and brownies.
Since I get asked this question a lot, yes, I do still love sports - especially my beloved White Sox and the teams of my undergrad alma mater, the Northwestern Wildcats. However, I have been known to do Cubs cakes and cupcakes upon request!
